AUXILIARY VOLUNTEERS
The requirements to become a Jackson County Memorial Hospital volunteer are to be courteous, competent and committed, the “three c’s of volunteering.” A volunteer is often the first person a visitor or patient encounters at the hospital and are a much-needed friendly face to ease the anxiety that can accompany a hospital stay.
For more information about becoming a volunteer, contact Betty Onan, Director of Volunteers, at 580-379-5767.
Men and women volunteer in the various service areas throughout the hospital: The Information Desk, Snack Bar, Gift Shop and the Intensive Care Unit/Operating Room waiting area. They deliver mail, gifts and flowers to hospital patients.
Money generated from the Gift Shop and Snack Bar is used for major equipment purchases and donations to hospital projects. In 2006, the JCMH Auxiliary donated $500,000 to the Cancer Centers of Southwest Oklahoma.
